LYNN ARMSTRONG
4s Teacher
This is my fourth year working in the office at FCCNS. I love my job supporting the Director in all aspects of the management of the school. It has been a rewarding experience at FCCNS as I’ve been able to call upon my 20 years as a Montessori elementary educator in Chicago, Washington, DC and in Connecticut. My AMI Montessori training included teaching children from first grade through sixth grade, but my greatest joy was in teaching the youngest kids just starting school. I taught all subject areas, but I specialized in teaching reading and math skills to children who required special assistance due to learning differences. Prior to my teaching career, I received my BA from Miami University in Organizational Communications, and spent six years in the corporate world before returning for my Masters in Education at Loyola University in Baltimore. We moved to Darien 10 years ago from Washington DC. I have been married to my husband Phil for 26 years and we have 2 children, Cole and Kate, who are now both in college. In my free time I enjoy doing yoga, biking, kayaking, taking walks with my dog Leo, gardening and spending time at the beach. Recently I’ve started tutoring pre-school and elementary children here in Darien who need extra help with math and reading. Being able to continue teaching part time is gratifying and a perfect complement to my work at FCCNS. I love working at FCCNS because it is such a nurturing, creative and happy community. It is so rewarding for me to be around the young children, their families and the wonderful dedicated FCCNS teachers and staff!
